We have created an online resource for teachers to use both in the classroom or while pupils are learning at home.
We have teamed up with Tayside Opera, another Dundee organisation, to create a relaxed and enjoyable lesson which also incorporates ‘Second Level’ Expressive Arts Experiences and Outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence, including
and more!
Classical music can be a daunting threshold to cross, however the benefits and beauty that it can bring are unbounded.
We hope that by engaging in our online lesson, children will feel more comfortable exploring opera and classical music of their own volition and, to feel that they can use it to influence their own lives for the better.
If you are a teacher/carer/parent and would like to use the lesson in your class or home, or would like to be sent more information on using the online lesson, please email education.operafest@gmail.com
It is our honour to welcome one of our partners, Opera For Peace, to Scotland for the first time. Co-founder and General Director Julia Lagahuzere will host a networking lecture based on the topic of the artist as a world ambassador and their place in the current world.
Along with a Q&A session and an opportunity to network, this event is ideal for music students, but open to everyone interested.

Iain Fraser,-co-creator with his two brothers Peter and Stephen, of the website Opera Scotland for listings and performance history gives a talk in which he outlines stories from the operatic stage in Scotland.
Scots have always been keen on the performing arts, and opera was no exception, once being much more popular than it is today.
Many colourful characters, stars of their day, are introduced and give some idea of the forgotten part opera has played in Scotland’s cultural history.
